Ameritas Announces Officer Elections

Lincoln, Neb.//December 19, 2013// JoAnn M. Martin, CPA, FLMI, Ameritas Mutual Holding Company president and chief executive officer, announces the following officer promotions.

image: Scott CorbettScott Corbett, FLMI, FALU, was elected vice president and chief underwriter. In this position, his primary responsibilities include overseeing the risk selection of the individual division.

He has extensive experience in technical underwriting. Since joining the company in 2004, Corbett has held numerous positions, including director – life underwriting, underwriting officer, and second vice president and assistant individual chief underwriter.

Corbett earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and management from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio, and a master’s degree in business administration from Belmont University, Nashville, Tenn. He earned the professional designations of FLMI (Fellow, Life Office Management Institute) and FALU (Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriters) and he holds the FINRA Series 6 and 26 securities licenses.

He is active in several professional organizations, including the Academy of Life Underwriting and the North American Underwriting study group. He is former chair of Ohio Home Office of Life and Health Underwriting Organization.

image: Blinda WeberBlinda Weber was elected second vice president – group customer connections and operations for the group division of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. In her new role, she is responsible for the overall management of the group division’s programs, projects and initiatives.

Weber joined Ameritas in 1997 as a group marketing micro specialist. She has held several positions within the division, most recently director – group business systems.

She earned her A.A.S. degree in marketing management from Southeast Community College, Lincoln, Neb., and graduated from Doane College with a B.A. degree in corporate communication.

A member of National Association of Dental Plans (NADP), Weber serves on two committees focused on FAIR Health activities and Health Care Reform. She is also a member of LOMA’s group systems committee.
