Women’s Bowling
Years playing: Since I was 7.

What is your current position on the team?

In bowling, we really don’t have specific positions. It all depends on if the lanes like you, you have a good line and are consistent, and the coach will put you in the line up where he sees fit in positions 1-5. The lead off bowler gets things started off strong, and the 2nd and 3rd bowlers keep the momentum going. The 4th bowler sets up the 5th bowler for the best chance at shutting out the other team, and the 5th bowler handles the high-pressure situations.

What sparked your interest in athletics?

I’ve been involved in athletics since I was 7. My first spark was joining soccer at the YMCA and watching my parents bowl league. I wanted to learn and be a part of it. As I grew up, I expanded into volleyball that I played through middle school, and softball and track that I played until I graduated. Each sport taught me something new about discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and competition, and that variety kept me passionate about staying active and improving myself.

What advice would you give to young women entering athletics?

Believe in your abilities, even when others doubt you. Don’t be afraid to step into spaces where you might be the only woman — your skills speak louder than stereotypes. Learn from every challenge, value teamwork, and always remember why you started. Surround yourself with positivity and don’t compare your progress to others because everyone learns differently. Most importantly, take care of your body and mind so you can enjoy the journey for years to come.

What is one of your favorite moments or career highlights?

One of my favorite moments in my career so far was when our team walked into the bowling alley, blasting “The Scarlet and the Cream” on our speakers. The energy was electric — every step felt charged, and you could feel it buzzing between us. People turned to watch, but we weren’t just making an entrance for ourselves. We knew we were representing something bigger — our school, our community, and everyone who supports us. The mix of hype, pride, and unity made it unforgettable.

Is there a uniform, award or object in sports that holds special meaning for you?

Our team jersey holds special meaning for me. It’s more than just a uniform — it represents the hard work we’ve put in together, the pride of representing our school, and the bond we’ve built as a team. Every time I put it on, I feel connected to the teammates who came before me and motivated to uphold that legacy.
