Investment strategies
As an IAR, you have chosen to accept a higher level of responsibility through increased education and expertise. Whether you have a passion for asset management or are new to using your IAR registration, we offer two managed account programs, Mercury and Gemini.
The primary differences between the Gemini and Mercury programs lie in their investment strategies, asset allocation approaches and minimum account requirements.
Mercury
- Employs Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) to invest in various asset classes.
- Provides a diversified portfolio with strategic asset allocation tailored to each client’s goals and risk tolerance.
Gemini
- Uses individual equities, fixed income instruments and ETFs for a broader range of asset classes.
- Offers customized portfolios tailored to each client’s goals, risk tolerance and overall investment portfolio.
- Accepts in-kind transfers for all clients, especially those who are tax sensitive.
In general, the Gemini program is more suitable for high-net-worth individuals and organizations, with more complex investment needs, while the Mercury program offers a more affordable and diversified solution for a broader range of clients.
Compensation
Fees are based on the market value of the client’s account. IARs receive a percentage of the overall fee charged by AIP to clients, which is capped at 1.50% for Mercury accounts and 2.00% for Gemini accounts.
AIP’s portion of the fee covers our management expenses, and includes covering account ticket charges, helping to keep overall expenses to our clients manageable and transparent.
