Area nonprofits to receive $402,062 in charitable giving from Ameritas
LINCOLN, Nebraska – Ameritas has announced that $402,062 in charitable giving will be awarded to Nebraska nonprofits. The awards span Ameritas’ five community wellness areas of education, financial stability, health services, arts and culture and sustainability. Each award varies in length, with some multi-year commitments to nonprofit recipients.
“Ameritas recognizes that families cannot thrive until their basic needs are met—this includes a safe home, healthy lives and an education,” said Liz Ring Carlson, vice president of corporate communications and community relations. “We’re glad to give these great organizations a boost and make our state stronger by lifting communities up.”
The full list of award recipients is below. Each award was distributed on or before Dec. 31, 2023, unless otherwise noted.
- American Red Cross of Nebraska & Southwest Iowa – $10,000
- Arbor Day Foundation – $12,000
- Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Lincoln – $5,000
- Bright Lights, Inc. – $15,000 over three years ($5,000/year)
- Cedars Home for Children Foundation, Inc. – $75,000 ($55,000 in 2023/$20,000 in 2024)
- Completely Kids – $10,000
- Malone Community Center – $5,000
- Nebraska Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Foundations, Inc. – $5,000
- NeighborWorks – $40,000
- University of Nebraska Foundation (College of Business) – $105,000 over three years/$103,000 for two years (2023-2027)
- Junior Achievement of Lincoln – $17,062 (from Lincoln Community Foundation)
