Generosity is one of the six core values that guides Ameritas. A spirit of giving runs through everything we do. Ameritas associates recently created another opportunity to express this core value.

Breakthrough is the name given to the Ameritas annual forum for Ameritas Investment Company, LLC and Ameritas Advisory Services, LLC. It is a learning event for independent financial professionals affiliated with our broker / dealer and / or Registered Investment Advisor (RIA). The 2022 location for the event was Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Ameritas leadership decided to reach out to local leaders in Fort Lauderdale. Their goal was to discover how Ameritas could contribute to their local community in a meaningful way. From these conversations, they created Operation Give Back. It was a giving event within a learning event.

Ameritas chose to give to The TaskForce Fore Ending Homelessness, Inc. The non-profit organization provides outreach, education and advocacy to the homeless population in Broward County. The TaskForce, as it’s known on the street, is a private 501-C-3 corporation, established on Oct. 1, 2003. Their mission is to get their homeless neighbors off the street. They do this through aggressive outreach services and placement in programs that will help them get “home.” They provide housing navigation to people who are unsheltered. They also work to meet basic needs such as food and clothing. Ameritas leaders decided to pitch in to help the TaskForce meet basic needs for the homeless.

Ameritas Breakthrough attendees rolled up their sleeves for this giving effort. In a timed event of 30 minutes, teams of Ameritas colleagues competed to see how many care packages they could build. The energy in the room was high with a spirit of positive rivalry. When the final buzzer rang, the teams had created a total of 300 care packages.

“Giving back is essential to who we are at Ameritas. The independent financial professionals who represent us share that value,” says Beth Goldsmith, Manager of Field Development and Education for Ameritas. “It was gratifying to see that value come to life with Operation Give Back. It was a highlight of this year’s Breakthrough learning event.”
